Installation

HeroJournal is available for macOS, Windows, and Linux. Download the version for your operating system below.

macOS

Download

• Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3): <TBA>
• Intel Mac: <TBA>

Installation Steps

1. Download the .dmg file for your Mac type
2. Double-click to open the disk image
3. Drag HeroJournal to your Applications folder
4. Eject the disk image

First Launch (Gatekeeper Warning)

Since HeroJournal is not notarized by Apple, you may see a security warning:

“HeroJournal” cannot be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.

To open anyway:

1. Open System Settings > Privacy & Security
2. Scroll down to find the message about HeroJournal
3. Click Open Anyway
4. Enter your password if prompted

Alternatively, right-click (or Control-click) on HeroJournal and select Open from the menu.

Windows

Download

• Windows Installer: <TBA>

Installation Steps

1. Download the .exe installer
2. Double-click to run the installer
3. Follow the installation wizard
4. Choose whether to create a desktop shortcut
5. Click Install

SmartScreen Warning

Windows SmartScreen may show a warning for unrecognized apps:

To proceed:

1. Click More info
2. Click Run anyway

Linux

AppImage Installation

# Make executable
chmod +x HeroJournal_1.0.0_x64.AppImage

# Run
./HeroJournal_1.0.0_x64.AppImage

Debian/Ubuntu Installation

sudo dpkg -i HeroJournal_1.0.0_amd64.deb

Fedora/RHEL Installation

sudo rpm -i HeroJournal_1.0.0_x86_64.rpm

Verifying Installation

After installation, launch HeroJournal. You should see:

1. A welcome screen with profile setup
2. A clean, modern interface with a sidebar
3. An empty achievements list ready for your first entry
